Session #1 Title:   Fed Economic Update:  This presentation will give an overview for the national and regional economy, along with specific indicators for Colorado and the United States. Key economic indicators include: monetary policy, employment, housing, inflation, GDP, energy, agriculture and banking.


Alison Felix, Assistant Vice President and Denver Branch Executive

Alison Felix is assistant vice president and Denver Branch executive with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. She serves as the Bank’s regional economist in the states of Colorado, Wyoming and northern New Mexico. She also works closely with the Branch’s board of directors. 

 Prior to being named Denver Branch executive, Ms. Felix served as a senior economist in the Regional Affairs Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. She has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan. She also holds an M.A. in economics from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in mathematics and economics from Kansas State University.

Brian Cain, Director of Public Affairs

Extraction Oil & Gas

Brian Cain is director of public affairs for Extraction Oil & Gas, a Denver-based exploration and production company operating exclusively in the Denver-Julesburg basin of Colorado. In this role, he serves as company spokesman and directs government relations outreach. Cain began consulting for Extraction in August 2014 when the company began significantly expanding statewide operations and has overseen the communications and government relations aspects of the company’s permitting projects, as well as overseeing the company’s October 2016 initial public offering, which continues to hold the record for the most successful energy IPO since 2014. He currently serves on the boards of Colorado Business Roundtable and St. Anthony North Health Foundation.

Prior to his current role, Cain was a vice president in the energy practice of Hill & Knowlton Strategies, a global strategic communications and public affairs firm, where he advised some of the world’s largest energy supermajors on communications policy and media strategy, and was deployed to lead media affairs and communications for crisis events across the United States.

Prior to that, Cain served as a senior public affairs advisor to Anadarko Petroleum, where he was one of two global spokesmen and managed communications for the company’s assets worldwide.

Before Anadarko, Cain was global media spokesman and registered lobbyist for Chevron Phillips, one of the world’s largest petrochemical companies.

Cain began his career as a journalist. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and an MBA with concentrations in finance and general management from Tulane University. 

Marianella Foschi, Vice President of Finance

Extraction Oil & Gas

Ms. Foschi is Vice President of Finance at Extraction Oil & Gas. She previously served as Director of Finance at Extraction from 2015 until September 2019. Prior to joining Extraction, Ms. Foschi was an associate at The Blackstone Group in Houston and spent several years focused on mezzanine debt and equity investments across the energy sector. While at The Blackstone Group, Ms. Foschi was responsible for investing $1.5 billion of private capital primarily across 10 investments. From 2010 to 2012, Ms. Foschi was an energy investment banker at Credit Suisse where she developed her expertise in debt, equity and advisory assignments for exploration and production, midstream and oilfield services companies.

Ms. Foschi holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Finance, with honors, from the University of Texas at Austin.
